Any other important points : In the third year students undertake a major creative project, either a short film (film directing strand) or a journalism project (journalism strand).

Admission criteria

Age on entry

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age in the year of entry. This is the age of graduation from Greek secondary studies (Lyceum).

Minimum Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for the BA Media Production are as follows:

  1. Graduation (Lyceum) certificate with a general point average of 10 out of 20, on the 0-20 mark scale according to national standards.
  2. Alternative school level or post-secondary qualifications may be accepted as equivalent to the above on advice from the ɬÂþÌìÌà Collaborative Academic Lead.

Advanced Standing

The following candidates are also eligible for admission to the course with Advanced Standing (i.e. entry at Year 2 or Year 3):

  • Successful completion of the two-year Institute Vocational Training (IVT) Journalism or Film & TV Directing Programme or equivalent two year programme, such as HND, etc. provides eligibility for direct entry into Year 3 of the programme. (relevant mapping exercise in appendix III).
  • University graduates from relevant disciplines will normally be eligible for direct entry into Year 3 of the programme.
  • Transfers from Institutes of Post-Secondary and Higher Education offering similar specialisations may be eligible for direct entry into Year 2 or 3 of the programme, depending on how much of their previous programme they have completed.
  • Professional journalists and directors, camera people or editors with at least three years experience in their profession will normally be eligible for direct entry into Year 3 of the programme. Such applicants will be expected to have a relevant post-secondary qualification, or a degree level qualification.
