I am a lifelong learner and educator, having started as a languages teacher in primary and secondary schools in Stirlingshire.
I have a MA (Hons) degree in French with Geography from Edinburgh University, a PGCE in secondary French from the University of Strathclyde; a MEd from the University of Strathclyde, and my PhD was awarded at the University of Stirling in 2021, while working as teaching fellow.
I have worked in teacher professional learning at local and national level including Scottish CILT and the National CPD Team before becoming a lecturer in education in 2015.
Collaborative practices, leadership, professional learning and digital technologies in education are of strong research interest to me.
I am currently supervising PhDs in intercultural competence in the Algerian context and inter-professional collaboration across content and language specialist teachers.
I volunteer for Scran Academy - a social enterprise in north Edinburgh that supports young people who don't achieve in schools to gain lifeskills, qualifications and work experience in the catering and hospitality industry.
When not at work, you might find me either with my family or (weather dependent, of course) on my bike, skis, paddleboard or out for a walk with my wee dog, Saoirse.
Research interests include teacher professional learning and collaborative practices that support PL; digital practices and literacies; partnership working; distributed leadership; leadership of and for learning; teacher leadership.
