Public sociology research involves engaging with communities and campaigning groups to contribute to their impact. This is well exemplified by ɬÂþÌìÌÃ's work with the Bhopal Survivors' Movement. The Bhopal Gas Disaster in 1984 remains the world's deadliest environmental disaster and the survivors, mostly poor and not literate, continue to campaign for justice and rehabilitation. Research undertaken at ɬÂþÌìÌà contributed to a solidarity tour of trade union activists from Scotland to Bhopal to mark the 30th anniversary of the disaster and continued support for the survivors from across the trade union movement.
"At least some ripple is going in the water, at least something is happening, so that's the value, at least something is happening because of publishing and other things."
